Winchester Roofing Contractors: Relationships First

It’s a sad truth that, for sheer number of BBB complaints, roofing contractors rank above 99.5% of other industries. All too often, roofing contractors are just interested in making a quick buck, rather than in doing the right thing for their customers.

At ADR, we belive that Winchester’s homeowners deserve better. We pride ourselves on creating long lasting relationships with customers. We build this relationship during the install and nurture this relationship through our Roof Day program. In this program, we check on the roof every 5 years after the date of the install to make sure it is still working right and protecting your home.

What We Love About Working in Winchester

We especially love doing metal roofs in the Winchester area because it combines modern technology with the historical look and feel of the area.

While many roofing companies in the area only doing shingle roofing, we provide a full suite of exterior services – shingle roofing, metal roofing, siding, gutters, and more.

Many Winchester roofing companies are also “one-man-bands” who will both meet with you and help to install the roof. ADR, on the other hand, is a mid-sized roofing company which means that we provide the personalization of the one man band with the professionalism and efficiency of full time staff and crew.

Frequently Asked Questions for Winchester Roofing Contractors

Do most roofing companies offer financing?

No, most roofing companies do not offer financing. There is a qualification process required in order to offer financing, which depends on how long you’ve been in business, your financials as a company, etc. Here at ADR, we are qualified and offer financing through Green Sky and Hearth. Both these companies operate differently, to ensure we can get the majority of our clients approved.

Does homeowners insurance cover a new roof?

Homeowners’ insurance does typically cover a new roof, if it qualifies. In order to qualify, the roof needs to be damaged to the point where it needs to be replaced; from a storm, a tree falling down, or anything outside of your control.

How do I find a trustworthy roofer?

There are several ways to look for a trustworthy roofer: looking at reviews online, verifying their license and insurance, and word of mouth. Asking for referrals can also help narrow down a trustworthy roofer.

How do I know when I need a new roof?

Some of the most obvious signs you need a new roof are missing shingles or leaks. The most common way to tell, however, is through roofing granules (the top layer of your shingle). Finding granules in your gutter is a sign that your roof is aging, and it’s time for a replacement.

How much does it cost to tear off and replace a roof?

Tearing off and replacing a roof with a licensed, insured, and qualified roofer normally runs between $400 and $600, for a lifetime architectural shingles. The price can vary depending on the type of underlayment, warranty, how steep your roof is, the kind of product you currently have on your roof (cedar shake, metal, etc.), or other factors which could increase the cost of your roof.

What is the best roof for high winds?

CertainTeed shingles are the heaviest in the industry, and therefore, the best option for high winds. Since the effectiveness of your roof sealant depends on how much weight is pressed upon it, the heavier the shingle, the better it seals. The success of a roof also depends on its installation. Fastening six nails in the proper locations can ensure the strength of each shingle, especially in a high wind area.

What should be included in a roofing contract?

Product lists and warranties are the most important items on a roofing contract. More specifically, however, the products, product names, warranties, colors, service done (full tear off, replacement, etc.) should be listed.

What should be included in a roofing estimate?

Much like with a roofing contract, you should see the product list, the warranties, how long the installation should take, when the materials will be delivered, and a rough timeline of the project.

At ADR, we like to give as much information as possible on an estimate to make you feel comfortable with our installation.

What should I ask a roofer?

Always ask a roofer if they are licensed and insured. Since most roofs do not have a full warranty period and require manufacturer’s credentials to do so: do they install a fully warrantied roof?

You should also ask if they have workers’ comp and general liability insurance, so if anything falls on your car or one of the workers falls, you’re covered. Another helpful question to ask is how long they’ve been in business.

Lastly, ask them for a list of roofs they’ve installed on a few houses nearby, so you can look and make sure there’s no shoddy work visible from the ground.

What type of roofing lasts the longest?

For long-lasting roofs, we recommend metal and slate. A standing-seam metal roof can outlive most roofs, and can last up to 175 years, if maintained properly. The second longest-lasting option, slate can also last well over 100 years.
